To get into the spirit of the upcoming 4th of July holiday, I decided to make a new hanging for my front door. So cute, don't you think?
Here's how I did it. I started by applying a few coats of white gesso onto rocks and letting them dry.
Then I took some stickers and punched a part of the sticker paper with a star-shaped paper punch. The punched star and the negative portion left by the punched star became my stencils for my rocks. I used these stencils to place onto the rocks and applied a bit of acrylic paints by Claudine Hellmuth for Ranger Inks.
Once dry, I peeled off the stencils.
Then I added some more details with the paints.
And I also used my graphite pencil to add some pencil work and also adhered text cut from book pages onto the rocks with Mod Podge.
To seal everything, I applied a coat of Mod Podge to all the rocks.
Once dry, I attached the rocks onto a vintage book cover with some E-6000.
Once dry, I added some hemp yarn and some black wire.
And there you go. A totally rockin' We The People hanging for the front door or really any other door or wall in the house.
Happy (chic) 4th of July. :)
Very cool! I would never have thought of using rocks!

Darling! Love it "your royal chicness"! If I weren't so tired from moving and unable to locate anything anyway--- I'd whip some up. With luck, it will save in my brain for later. (or not)

Just gorgeous! The rustic book cover and hemp cord really set off the rocks.
